II. INTRODUCTION

The present Study Program of Computer Networks subject has been elaborated in
order to enrich the theoretic and practical knowledge of the student during the
development of the study program. The module has been structured as a tool in
order to promote independent studies of each unit within the classroom.

The contents of the study plan is focus on the Basic Administration of Local Area
Networks ( LAN ), and the rest of network, as well as a series of practical and
laboratory exercises.

This subject implies the implementation of practical applications in the area

designing and configuration of Local Area Network. The objective is that students
will be capable of applying their knowledge, handle, know the importance,
functions and be able to installs computer network

III. GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE SUBJECT:

 Acquisition of theoretic knowledge and practical techniques to be able to

installed, configured and administered Computer Networks and local
intercommunication of two or more workstations.

 The student will be able to design computer networks and its corresponding
administration, taking in consideration the OSI Reference Model, the
standards and applicable norm of the type of traffic, service, coverage and
security needs.

 Gives the student a detailed vision of the problematic in the subnets field
and its applicable solutions.

Objective of the System

 Acquire proficiency in designing and configuration of interconnection of

Local Area Networks ( LAN ) within an organization.

3.1. Psychosocial Objectives:

 Create ability to interact effectively with others in order to work towards a

common outcome.
 Acknowledge and respect all ethnics group in relation to obtain a major and
better area of study.
 Acknowledge and respect other cultures and appreciation of cultural
diversity.

3.2. Academic Objectives

 The ability to be able to specified the need to carry a control of the different
types of communication within a computing network field (Identify, organize
interchange, restore, etc.).

 The ability to be able to know the need and necessity of administering

complex network.

 To be able to know and analyze the functions and possibilities of the

network levels and transportation of the standard model of the OSI/RM
(Open System Interconnections-Reference Model) and TCP/IP
(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) segment.

 To be able to acquire critical knowledge of Computer Network, and its

difficulties in designing, implementing and implanting the following:

- Master/slave InterConnection
- Peer to peer interConnection (P2P)
- Client/server InterConnection

 Promote group work within the classroom to be able to share and

exchanged knowledge in areas such as creating cables, configuring and
administering   connections in computer network working areas.

IV. METHODOLOGICAL RECOMENDATIONS

During the development of the subject it is recommended that teachers introduce

students to do practice class in accordance to the units, in order to complement the
learning teaching process of the students. The practice class of this subject
required the use of network materials so that student can work in small groups and
develop their learning skills by doing.

To give the class teachers should make use of any other visual media beside the
chalk board to complement the learning process of the student. The units that
required practice should be base upon proposal and solving of problems with the
use of computer laboratory.
Teachers should be able to facilitate sufficient materials to student and present the
necessary condition to develop their learning process, and be able to use their
previous knowledge around the given unit.

The tuition process should be dynamic and contemplate actions that permit
students to participate in the classroom, promote individual studies, and be able to
search for information using the internet tools and other bibliography to be able to
develop learning habits and strong personal values.

Teachers should be pending around students activities within the classroom, and
establish methods that will contribute to the learning of the students, in order that
they can achieve their goal in their learning objective of the material in study.
