The Love Is Blind Universe Is Growing: Here’s Your International Guide

From Sweden to Brazil, the pods have gone global.
    By Laura Bradley
    Jan. 3, 2025

Since 2020, Love Is Blind has sought to answer one deceptively simple question: Is love truly blind? The answer, as we’ve learned over and over again, is yes — but it’s complicated.

This holds true for every single edition of the series around the world — from the US and Sweden to Argentina and Japan. No matter how big the LIB universe gets, soulmates always find each other in the pods, and the experiment’s core lessons remain the same. “The pods could literally be in any country, in any city, in any place in the world,” Love Is Blind creator Chris Coelen tells Tudum. “The pods aren’t about place. The pods are about an experience.”

Whether it’s honoring Arabic traditions in Love Is Blind: Habibi, the striking diversity in Love Is Blind: Brazil, or the unparalleled slang in Love Is Blind: UK, there’s something new to love about each season of this show. Read on for a quick primer on what each international edition has to offer. Check back for updates as returning seasons launch and new international editions premiere.

Love Is Blind: Brazil

Christofer and Catja from ‘Love is Blind': Sweden’.

When did the show premiere?

Love Is Blind: Brazil kicked off on Oct. 6, 2021. Season 2 dropped on Dec. 28, 2022, followed by Season 3 on June 7, 2023, and Season 4 on June 19, 2024.

Who are the hosts?

Brazilian power couple Camila Queiroz and Klebber Toledo.

Why you’ll fall in love …

There’s more to this show than compelling drama (although there’s plenty of that as well). You’d find few casts more diverse than in Love Is Blind: Brazil, which sparks some of the frankest discussions about race in the franchise. Participants of all body types participate, and Season 3 also prominently features a contestant with a disability. Also, did we mention the stunning honeymoon locations? Each season takes us somewhere even more gorgeous than the last. Our Season 1 retreat flew us to the Lake Vilas Charm Hotel in Amparo, São Paulo. Season 2 served soothing nature vibes at the Mirante do Gavião Amazon Lodge in Novo Airão, while Season 3 soaked up the sun at the Madeiro Beach Hotel Resort in Pipa Beach, Tibau do Sul. And most recently, Season 4 had us swooning over the Rio de Rastro mountain range in the canyons of Santa Catarina.

Featured couple

Leonardo and Vanessa from Season 4 achieve basically Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton levels of perfection — meaning, they’re loved-up from the start and virtually drama-free. Vanessa’s positive energy and contagious laugh make her stand out from Day 1. Leonardo is the kind of guy who almost seems too good to be true (handsome, self-assured, mature, caring … the list of positive adjectives goes on and on) — and by the end, it turns out that this fairy-tale prince is the real deal.

Which couples are still together?

Season 1 gave us a very fun twist at the reunion: Nanda, who originally chose Thiago over Mackdavid, revealed that she and Thiago had separated … and that she’d gotten back together with Mackdavid. Nanda and Mackdavid later welcomed a baby named Ben in 2022.

While the Season 2 couples have all parted ways, Season 3 couple Ágata and Renan are still going strong. The two renewed their vows in a gorgeous ceremony in November 2023. Although Maria Carolina and Menandro had their ups and downs (like the time when she accused him of cheating on her with another pod squad member), they were able to move on and have since continued to make the dream work — which is great news for Menandro’s adorable daughter. Lastly, Vanessa and Leonardo from Season 4 are still showing off their enviable, photogenic amor on Instagram.

When is the next season?

Love Is Blind: Brazil Season 5 began production in fall 2024.

Love is Blind: Sweden

Christofer and Catja from ‘Love is Blind': Sweden’.

When did the show premiere?

Love Is Blind: Sweden Season 1 debuted on Jan. 12, 2024.

Who are the hosts?

Swedish TV presenter and reporter Jessica Almenäs is the first host to tackle a Love Is Blind edition solo.

Why you’ll fall in love …

LIB: Sweden hits the perfect sweet spot: It’s full of drama, yet at the same time, there’s also a great degree of depth to the conversations we witness. Couples talk about everything from their cultural backgrounds to how they like to train their dogs, and while there is some awkward silliness (like Karolina sending Lucas her underwear in a failed attempt to cement their relationship), everyone clearly takes the experiment seriously. The pods’ Nordic production aesthetic, all neutral tones and light woods, also lends a beautiful backdrop to these couples’ budding romances.

Featured couple

Meira and Oskar are one of those couples who are clearly meant to be together and also have just enough conflict to make you worry that they’ll somehow break up. They run into some trouble because Meira, an introvert, worries that Oskar can’t give her the alone time she needs to thrive. As someone born in Afghanistan, she also wonders if their cultural differences will tear them apart. Ultimately, however, the struggles only seem to make them stronger.

Which couples are still together?

Two couples from this season are already expecting children: Krisse-Ly and Rasmus announced in June 2024 that they were going to become parents, while Amanda and Sergio — who shared their pregnancy news during the Season 1 reunion — welcomed their son, Ralf, in May 2024. Meira and Oskar, our other lasting couple from the season, threw themselves a second wedding after the experiment wrapped.

When is the next season?

Stay tuned for updates about Love Is Blind: Sweden Season 2.

Love is Blind: Mexico

When did the show premiere?

Love Is Blind: Mexico landed on Netflix Aug. 1, 2024.

Who are the hosts?

Actor, singer, and comedian Omar Chaparro and his life coach wife, Lucy.

Why you’ll fall in love …

This one’s for folks who savor a little bit of mess. As sincere as everyone’s intentions are, LIB: Mexico’s first season packs in the drama. There’s a feud in the women’s lounge during the pods, a heated argument between two women at a rooftop party, and more than a little speculation that one man’s shallowness could tear his relationship apart. And that’s not even mentioning the couple that break up after their reveal only to get back together in time for the couples retreat.

Featured couple

Although Fernando’s journey through the pods starts out a bit rocky — translation: there’s a mini-competition among three women for his heart — he and Karen quickly pair off. Unlike some of Mexico’s standout couples, these two don’t maintain a perfect, peaceful image; they argue about her smoking, and her hostility toward his old flame Iraís stirs up an incredibly tense scene at a pod squad barbecue. Instead, the imperfections make them more relatable. Besides, if Fernando’s immediate embrace of Karen’s daughter doesn’t make you cry, we don’t know what will.

Which couples are still together?

Despite all the drama leading up to their wedding, Karen and Fernando (and Karen’s daughter, Emi) are going strong.

Love Is Blind: UK

When did the show premiere?

Love Is Blind: UK premiered on Aug. 7, 2024.

Who are the hosts?

Broadcaster Emma Willis and her husband, Matt Willis — an actor, TV presenter, and former bassist and co-vocalist for the pop-punk band Busted.

Why you’ll fall in love …

It’s not just the British slang that makes this offshoot so charming. Love Is Blind: UK also comes chock-full of witty banter and unique, compelling characters like funeral director Freddie and confident, sporty Demi. The show’s first season also introduces some of the most surprising emotional arcs once couples leave the pods. Couples who once seemed ironclad wind up going for each other’s jugulars in the reunion, while others who seemed doomed actually triumph. Also, no spoilers, but this season also introduces one of Love Is Blind’s most polarizing singles to ever enter the pods.

Featured couple

Jasmine and Bobby seem comfortable with one another from the very start, and that easy chemistry never stops sizzling — even after Jasmine’s mother gives Bobby the third degree. Also, their vows are stunnin’.

Which couples are still together?

As confirmed during the reunion, Jasmine and Bobby are still together, and so are Nicole and Benaiah — despite their, ahem, rough start.

When is the next season?

Love Is Blind: UK Season 2 will debut in 2025.

Love Is Blind, Habibi

When did the show premiere?

Love Is Blind: Habibi kicked off on Oct. 10, 2024.

Who are the hosts?

Actors Elham Ali and Khaled Saqr, who’ve been married since 2019.

Why you’ll fall in love …

LIB: Habibi offers a fascinating cultural window into the United Arab Emirates without playing into any stereotypes that the outside world might’ve tacked onto these couples’ stories. For example: When one man tries to forbid his fiancée from dancing, her chief passion, she refuses. Habibi digs deep into themes like family, faith, and intermingling cultures, and the show’s decision to forego couples sharing beds right after they leave the pods creates a different dynamic from the other entries.

Featured couple

There’s a reason that Elham labels Safa and Mohammad the “Golden Couple” during the LIB: Habibi reunion. As strong as their connection was, they also had a lot to overcome — like their living situation, which required Safa to travel to Iraq each week for work. Despite all the challenges, Safa and Mohammad were the only couple to get married this season.

Which couples are still together?

Safa and Mohammad were still together as of the reunion and have posted photos from their first vacation together. The destination? Zanzibar.

Love Is Blind: Argentina

When did the show premiere?

Love Is Blind: Argentina was released on Nov. 6, 2024.

Who are the hosts?

TV presenter, comedian, and actor Darío Barassi hosts alongside model and football agent Wanda Nara.

Why you’ll fall in love …

Alongside LIB: Mexico and UK, LIB: Argentina is one of the few entries to truly break the experiment’s usual format. José Luis and Florencia, who never got engaged in the pods, returned to the experiment as a couple during the honeymoon retreat and eventually got married. This twist, combined with a few other emotionally turbulent relationships, make the season a standout.

Featured couple

Emily and Santiago are the kind of couple that largely runs on vibes alone ... at least at first. They got together based on a dream Santiago had, in which he swears he heard her name, and although they’ve had their fights (and cheer for rival football teams) they’ve been an unstoppable force ever since.

Which couples are still together?

In addition to Emily and Santiago, who spent their honeymoon in Europe, José Luis and Florencia have also stayed together. The latter couple’s continued courtship might shock some folks, since they left the show and came back during the cohabitation stage, but José Luis has embraced living with his wife and (despite his allergies) her four cats. At the reunion, he gave her an engraved ring — another symbol of his undying commitment.

Love Is Blind: Japan

When did the show premiere?

Love Is Blind: Japan first aired on Feb. 8, 2022.

Who are the hosts?

Comedian Takashi Fujii and actor Yuka Itaya.

Why you’ll fall in love …

LIB: Japan is more low-key than any other edition. The conversations are deep, and each couple seems sincerely invested in understanding one another, whether they end up married or not. As with any relationship, some arguments become metaphors for bigger problems within it, like Minami getting annoyed at Mori for leaving his hair in the sink when in reality, their conflict stems from a deeper disagreement about their roles within the relationship. (He loved her independence in the pods, but once they reach the outside world, he seems to want a more traditional wife.) All told, however, this edition is a fascinating look at how relationships work, as well as how they fall apart. It also doesn’t hurt that the bridge where couples meet one another for the first time is arguably the most beautiful place for reveals.

Featured couple

Ryotaro and Motomi have quickly become one of Love Is Blind’s unequivocal fan-favorites. Seriously, epic poems will someday be written about their shared empathy and warmth. Ryotaro said coming into the experiment that he wanted an emotional connection that felt like fate, and that’s exactly what these two found, both in their conversations and in the handwritten notes they began sending each other as a way to be more vulnerable.

Which couples are still together?

Wataru and Midori had to work on their relationship throughout the season, including after their reveal, when Midori confessed she wasn’t as physically attracted to Wataru as she’d hoped. Their commitment has paid off: They’ve been together ever since, and welcomed a daughter last year. Meanwhile, the internet’s fairy-tale couple, Ryotaro and Motomi, also announced last year that they’d had a baby boy.
