Aga Khan Gold Cup (Dhaka, Bangladesh)

This tournament was initially devised as an unofficial Asian Champions' Cup, with top club sides from leading football playing nations invited to Dhaka. However, as various associations insisted on sending national selections rather than clubs, the tournament eventually failed to fulfill its intended purpose. The 1982 edition, at which PSMS (Medan) would have represented Indonesia, was cancelled following a military coup in Bangladesh and the tournament was discontinued; it was replaced by the President's Gold Cup (which itself was discontinued after 1993).
