When Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody returns home following eight years in captivity, CIA agent Carrie Mathison thinks he has turned and is connected to a terror plot to be carried out on American soil, so she engages him in a dangerous game of cat and mouse that puts America's national security at risk. Later on, Carrie gets a promotion and returns to the front lines overseas. She is assigned to one of the CIA's most volatile and dangerous stations in the Middle East, where she is in the heart of battle in the war on terror. Years later, after being disillusioned and placing herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, Carrie becomes estranged from the CIA, eventually returning stateside where she works for a foundation providing aid to Muslims living in America.

Alexander Nazaryan Newsweek [Carrie Mathison's] comeuppance provided one of the high points of the fifth season's last episode. Feb 8, 2018 Full Review Jen Chaney Uproxx That's what Homeland does. It's a show about a bipolar woman that is bipolar in quality. And every time you think you're out, it pulls you back in. Nov 20, 2015 Full Review Sam Wollaston Guardian We're starting afresh, a little slower, which may prove to be wiser. Oct 14, 2015 Full Review Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk What gives Homeland its unsettling edge is the sense that it's pitching you into the dark corners of an endless secret war liable to erupt into bloody chaos at any moment, on a battlefield which is beyond anybody's control. Rated: 4/5 Jul 24, 2018 Full Review Bernice Harrison Irish Times It's shaping up to be a terrific series. Aug 15, 2017 Full Review Ankita Chawla Scroll.in Claire Danes is spectacular. She has won two Primetime Emmys and two Golden Globes for her role in the series and it is more than well-deserved. May 24, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Chris M The series switches to Berlin. Great from start to finish. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review Audience Member S4 was, in my opinion, a little setback. With this season, Homeland redeemed itself. This season was very good. A new, very entertaining plotline, well acted out by everyone. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review the s The critics aren't wrong on this one. As far as stories go, this is probably the weakest season of Homeland for many reasons. Not the least of which is just the disjointed, perpendicular plots that at the end of the day is neither here nor there. Someone has some information that someone is trying to get and another group is trying to keep others from getting it. And Quinn spends the entire season beat up lurking around in the shadows. He's lucky they even wrote him into this season because nobody has been as irrelevant as a character since the son in Breaking Bad. But I digress. This is an incredible series with a very mediocre season that, to be quite frank, is difficult to even make it all the way through. Clearly the writers had no idea where to go after the end of season 4 and that becomes the perpetual problem for Homeland…a writing staff that seems disconnected and disinterested at times who struggle to fall into a groove like they once had Whereas seasons 1 and 2 created an audience who could barely look away and never dared miss an episode, this season struggles to even keep the most diehard fans interested in coming back from one episode to the next. And one final word about Homeland: It's probably the best series with the worst introductory music in the history of television. No hyperbole…the generic smooth jazz juxtaposed with the samples of political dialogue evoke a dated, almost embarrassing response. It's worse than bad…it's kind of triggering. As if someone purposefully tried to create The Worst Series Theme Song Ever. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member In my opinion the best season of the series Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Nicht alle Aspekte des Deals mit diesem Unternehmen sind ideal Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member In my opinion, this is where Homeland starts going downhill, next seasons after are a disgrace and a poor man's House of Card instead of being about spies.
