Captivating fans across the world (maybe even galaxies) for literal decades, the Star Wars franchise is packed with adoring fans. In 2012, Disney acquired Lucas Film, and holy MOLY was the Internet torn.
Feelings ranged between abhorrence for corporate takeovers, and hope, for a better future for the Star Wars franchise. Understandably, diehard fans were worried that Disney would ruin their beloved characters and memories.
Regardless of your feelings on the matter, it is hard to dispute that Disney has done little but successfully breathe new life into the Star Wars universe, along with A LOT of money. No really, a LOT of money, creating some of the most expensive movies to date.
While fans may be torn on the quality or authenticity of the productions, Disney has churned out a lot of Star Wars content, and they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. Between fun movies that cover backstories, new trilogies for the next generation of fans (and of course the previous generations that grew up with the original), and mini-series concurrent with the original trilogy.
