Penang Bak Kut Teh (15 September 2012)


Penang Bak Kut Teh (Traditional/Simplified Chinese: 肉骨茶; Penang Hokkien: Bak1 Kut1 Teh2; IPA: baʔ-kut-tɛ) is a meal of pork-rib herbal soup meal. It bears slight variation to Klang Bak Kut Teh. Penang Bak Kut Teh usually has darker broth. It is served with white rice or yam rice, along with eu char koay, oil vegetables. Condiments include chopped garlic with dark soy sauce and hot chilli pepper.

In addition to pork ribs, other ingredients in Bak Kut Teh include pork innards, bead curd, tek gah ki (soy sheet), shittake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms and lettuce.
