Agnese Possamai was an Italian middle-distance runner who won three European and 21 national titles, and earned 60 international caps from 1977-88. She was named to the national team in 1977 and in 1978 won the Italian cross-country title. In 1981, in Grenoble, she won the 1,500 metres at the European Indoor Championships and in the same winter she placed fourth at the International Cross-Country Championships.
In 1982, she won the 3,000 meters at the European Indoor Championships, finished fourth at the International Cross-Country Championships, and was ninth in the 3K at the European Championships in Athina. She again won the European Indoors over 3K in 1984, then finished 10th at the 1984 Olympics in the 3,000.
In her later career Agnese moved up to the marathon, but injuries prevented her from success at that distance. She retired in 1992 and returned to factory work at Zanussi, helping produce compressors for refrigerators.
