Aged 34 at the time, Fred Goodfellow pulled in both the City of London police team’s two contests at the 1908 Olympics. Firstly he pulled in the 2-0 victory over the K Division of the Metropolitan Police in the second semi-final at the White City, and that was followed by another 2-0 win over the Liverpool Police in the final. All three police teams were representing Great Britain with the first team beating the second team. Goodfellow’s brother Henry played both football and cricket for Cambridge University.
