Save the date: Hoboken High School Open House

Hoboken High School will hold an Open House on

Tuesday, October 20th at 7 p.m.

Here's a heart-felt pitch for the event, and the school in general, from Irene Korman Sobolov a parent volunteer:

Here you will have a chance to meet the Administrators, Department Heads, the energetic teaching staff and the hard working students.

The Open House is specifically geared toward those parents with seventh and eighth grade students who are looking ahead to the high school years, but everyone is welcome.

Over the past two years, I have had the honor and privilege to work with the Principal, Dr. Cella, organizing community tours of HHS. It began because I was curious about HHS, as my oldest was entering Middle School and HHS has changed so much since I attended in the late 70’s. I thought, if I was curious, others might be too.

The response has been overwhelming! We have filled every tour mostly by word of mouth. Some are HHS grads that were curious like me and some were people who didn’t even know the address of the high school. Those on the tours always respond positively … some remembering their days there, some seeing the MAC Labs, pool, dance studio and editing rooms for the first time.

HHS has always held a special place in the hearts of those who attended school there. Now, the entire community is getting behind the school. It’s like having the Home Team advantage at a sporting event. They feel the praise when they score and the encouragement when they fall behind. The Home Team feels the positive energy and uses it to succeed!

There are so many ways we can all support our local high school, whether you have children there or not. You can attend a play, art opening or sporting event, donate to an HHS event or stop by the HHS shop and purchase a Redwing hat. Better yet, come along on a tour or stop by the Open House on October 20^th to see for yourself what is happening at the high school! Go Redwings! Go Hoboken High! See you on October 20.
