The Gandhinagar Railway Station in Gujarat has been upgraded by Indian Railways with an exclusive five-star hotel building atop it. The Station has been provided with world class amenities, at par with modern airports., The redevelopment of the existing railway station in Gandhinagar and construction of the five-star hotel on top of the station started in January 2017 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed their groundbreaking. (Pic: @RailMinIndia), The Gandhinagar railway station was redeveloped by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) – Gandhinagar Railway & Urban Development Corporation Ltd (GARUD) – between Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) and the Gujarat government. (Pic: @RailMinIndia), While Union Home Minister Amit Shah would also attend the inauguration virtually, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani and other dignitaries would remain present at a function in Gandhinagar, the release said. The station will also house a five star hotel., Special Care has been taken to make it a Divyang friendly station by providing it with a special ticket booking counter, ramps, lifts, dedicated parking space etc., The luxury hotel, having 318 rooms and to be operated by a private entity, is spread across 7,400 square meters and has been built at a cost of Rs 790 crore, said the release.
