One of Coronation Street ’s most popular couples, Roy Cropper and Cathy Matthews, are set for a rocky time later this week.

The engaged lovers – played by David Neilson and Melanie Hill – are due to get married later this month.

But, in Friday’s episode of the ITV soap, Cathy is left heartbroken when she wakes to find Roy cancelling the church after she’d told him she was having second thoughts.

As well as the church, Roy – who was previously married to the late Hayley Cropper – cancels the flowers and the reception, and calls on Ken Barlow and Anna Windass to explain the wedding is off.

Cathy tries to hint to Roy she’s had a change of heart, but he doesn't take the bait.

And she’s shocked when she realises the rash Roy rash has been suffering with has vanished, and assumes it's because he’s relieved to call off the wedding.

Anna, meanwhile, is also secretly relieved she won't have to leave the flat now the wedding’s off.

Later, Cathy’s nephew Alex Warner is annoyed at his mum and Cathy’s sister Nessa Warner for causing chaos.

But Nessa’s not having it and blames Roy for going back on his promise to Cathy.

Thanks to Nessa, Roy finally realises he made a mistake – especially when Cathy confesses she was merely seeking comfort from him when she said the wedding should be off.

Will Roy decide the wedding must go ahead after all? Or is it too late?
