Bolster Wagon Conversion Kit (Minimal)
The conversion Kit is specifically designed to be used with our Minimal Bogies which can be purchased separately or as part of our The Gentleman's Coach or Flat Bed Wagon (Minimal)
Dimensions:
Distance between bogies: 127cm
Height: 44 cm
Width: 44cm
Weight:13kg
The bolsters have an extremely great freedom of movement with the unbraked one able to rotate 360 degrees and the braked one only limited by the upright for the brake column meaning it has approximately 200 degrees of free movement.
The bolster kit can be used with our 7 1/4" Four-Way Drop-on Turntable meaning large loads can be turned on the turntable whilst being held across two bogies imitating an unusual shunting technique often done on narrow gauge railways where long oversized loads could be turned on turntables only just big enough for the bogie.
Suitability
This product is only intended for use with the Minimal Bogies and as such are not suitable for use with other designs of bogies. The bolster kit allows you to move large loads such as stacks of track or piles of wood but a healthy dose of common sense is required! Do not stack excessively large loads on the bogies and do not put yourself or others at risk by the risk of the bogies tipping over and causing injury . Ensure the track the bogies is running on is firm and well made/supported. Ensure that the load is kept as low as possible and if required secure the load with Ratchet straps or other tie down methods.
We do not recommend that the Bolster Wagon Conversion kit should be used for more than 75Kg (evenly distributed.)
Monitoring your product
The product is regarded as maintenance free, however care must be taken to ensure the prongs do not become bent or misaligned from heavy handling and transportation. The operator should check the product for signs of damage before use.
What is “Minimal”
Minimal railways are small railway sthat have a genuine purpose and do a real job of work, however modest. Derived from Sir Arthur Heywood's 15” 'Minimum' gauge of 1874 onwards the term “Minimal” was coined by Chris Stockdate around the turn of the 21st century to sum up small railways that do a real job of work in or around your garden, workshop, allotment or the like.
