Well, first of all, how many times over the years have we seen films be released that are based on William Shakespeare's legendary play Romeo And Juliet? When I saw the previews for this movie I thought to myself what a stupid concept, I bet this movie is going to be another lame animated movie strictly aimed for children 10 and under. I was completely wrong, though clichéd, Gnomeo & Juliet managed to work its way into my heart. The animation is wonderful, colorful and bright. The greatest love story ever told, starring...garden gnomes? In "Gnomeo & Juliet," Shakespeare's revered tale gets a comical, off-the-wall makeover. Directed by Kelly Asbury (co-director of "Shrek 2") and showcasing both classic and original songs by Elton John, the film features the voices of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt as Gnomeo and Juliet, who have as many obstacles to overcome as their quasi namesakes when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors.
