Propylene Glycol (U.S.P.)
Propylene Glycol is used for the treatment and prevention of ketosis (acetonemia) in dairy cows, a metabolic disease affecting mother cows during late pregnancy and after calving, when energy demands on the cow's body are high. Raised levels of ketone and a lack of glucose results in weight loss, reduced milk production, and lack of apetite. For treatment to restore glucose to the body, add propylene glycol to feed, or use as a drench. For prevention, utilize propylene glycol two weeks before calving and continue for six weeks following calving.
