K-pop star Taeyeon has topped music charts with her latest number "Spark," released Monday.
"Spark," a powerful, alternative soul song and the lead track of her second studio album "Purpose," had secured No. 1 spot on Melon, Genie Music, Bugs, Olleh Music and Soribada streaming charts among others as of Tuesday morning.
Taeyeon outpaced singer MC Mong ("Fame") and sibling duo AKMU ("How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You're the One I Love.")
"Purpose" also dominated the daily album charts on Hanteo and Kyobo. The album contains 12 tracks including the maudlin "Here I Am," the soulful "Love You Like Crazy," the jazz-flavored "Do You Love Me?" and the blues rocker "Better Babe."
The singer will hold a "2019 TAEYEON FANMEETING 'Inside - TAEYEON with S♡NE" at Kyung Hee University's Grand Peace Palace in Seoul on Nov. 23.
Taeyeon debuted as a leader of K-pop girl group Girls' Generation in 2007, and launched her solo career in 2015 with the album "I."
