Truly sickening footage has captured the horrific abuse suffered by sheep as they are being sheared for their wool.

The shocking video has been posted to YouTube by PETA who claim the clips have been taken from sheep shearing sheds across Australia, the US and Argentina.

In the clip, sheep are seen being hurled through the air, before they are stamped on by the shearers.

Many of the sheep are seen being wounded during the shearing , some fatally before they are tossed onto a fire.

PETA sent an undercover investigator to record hidden camera footage of the awful abuse before revealing the true extent of the wool industry on their website.

They said: "Shearers were rough, careless and violent, hurling sheep several feet off the shearing platform, slamming them to the floor, kicking them, twisting and standing on their necks and more."

PETA's undercover investigator reported: "One shearer stomped on a sheep’s face a dozen times before tearing off one of the animal’s horns.

"Another worker, after kicking a sheep in the face several times, said to the petrified animal, 'You lay down again, you c***, I’ll kill you.'

"The observer saw that same worker jam his finger into the anuses of two sheep to drive them up a ramp to the shearing stand.

"As has already been documented on many farms, the shearers’ rough handling and carelessness left sheep with gaping wounds.
