Michelle Obama Reads Jokes For Kimmel
With her new memoir, Becoming, Michelle Obama reveals a bit more about herself and her life as first lady than she could while she was in the White House. But when she was a guest on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night, the host pushed her to open up even further, asking her to read a few jokes he had penned.
"As far as I'm concerned, you can cut loose and say anything now, right?" Kimmel asked of her period after leaving the White House. "Yes?" Obama replied tentatively.
Kimmel then explained the premise of the bit, in which Obama would recite sentences he had written of "things you couldn't say while you were in the White House." (The late-night host has prompted guests with a similar routine before, including adult-film performer Stormy Daniels before she legally claimed that an NDA she had signed regarding her interactions with President Donald Trump was void.)
Though Obama was hesitant to read Kimmel's statements, she played along, reading first, "I've never eaten a vegetable." (Obama tended a vegetable garden while in the White House and made videos that attempted to encourage children to eat more veggies.) "I knew it, I knew it," Kimmel asserted. "That's not true," Obama shot back.
The next phrase poked fun at the Obamas' multiyear Netflix deal, inked in May: "The whole eight years we were in the White House, we used Laura Bush's Netflix password," Obama read. "Laura, sorry," she joked.
Earlier in the episode, Obama said that writing her new book helped her process her eight years as the first lady. "It was more fun that I thought," she said about the writing process. "Rarely does anybody get time and they get paid to reflect. And reflecting, I find, is very important because the truth is that for the last decade, there was no time to even really think about what just happened to us."

James Corden Joins Mark Wahlberg for 4 A.M. Workout
James Corden reluctantly joined Mark Wahlberg for a 4 a.m. workout and shared the experience on Wednesday's Late Late Show.
Inspired by Wahlberg's recently posted rigorous schedule, Corden woke up before 3 a.m. to prepare for the workout session. He used a handheld camera to document his early-morning journey to Wahlberg's house.
"It's 10 to 3 in the morning. According to Mark Wahlberg's Instagram schedule, he's praying right now," said Corden. "And I'm praying that he cancels."
Before the workout began, Wahlberg warned Corden that it "was gonna suck." He continued, "But when you have a shake and some turkey burgers after, you're gonna feel great. You're gonna go and attack the rest of the day." Corden responded that he planned to go back to bed immediately after leaving.
Corden later said, "I don't even know if I'm still awake or if this is some sort of weird dream. Just grinding on the floor at Mark Wahlberg's house."
After going through Wahlberg's morning schedule, Corden said that there was one aspect he could get behind. "So you do two meals. See, that appeals to me," he said. "What I realize is that I've been doing two breakfasts without the workouts. That's where I might be going wrong."
Wahlberg tried to motivate Corden for the workout by stating that he needs to get in shape so that he can scare his daughters' future boyfriends. "I'll just say I know Mark Wahlberg," said Corden. "So don't mess with me, 'cause I'll call him."

Stephen Colbert, Hugh Jackman Remember Stan Lee
Stephen Colbert paid tribute to Stan Lee on Monday, hours after it was reported that the 95-year-old writer, editor and publisher at Marvel Comics had died.
"Lee had a hand in creating all your favorite comic-book characters," said Colbert, a longtime Marvel fan who has a Captain America shield on his set. He pointed out that, in addition to his work, Lee led a fascinating life: he was a World War II veteran and was married to wife Joan for 70 years. "After they dated for two weeks, they flew to Reno so she could get a quickie divorce and marry Stan the same day. Now, that's a story," Colbert said.
He continued, "So thanks for all the stories, Stan, and I know you're hearing this a lot today, but 'Excelsior.'" (The word was Lee's longtime catchphrase.)
Colbert also welcomed Hugh Jackman, who has played Wolverine in nine films based on the Marvel character. When Colbert asked about Lee, Jackman said, "Let me say to the family and legions of fans that I remember Stan as a true gentleman who had a glint in his eye. He was a creative genius who created a whole world that changed the lives of many people, mine included."
Jackman also remembered being on a red carpet at Comic-Con, "and no one was taking my photo because at the other end was Stan Lee. Stan, god bless you, you're one of the greats," he said.

Jemele Hill Sounds Off on Trump Tweets, Sports and Politics
ESPN alum and current writer for The Atlantic Jemele Hill sounded off on all things sports and politics on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday.
Colbert praised her for her tweet last year that Donald Trump is “a white supremacist who surrounds himself with other white supremacists,” which in part led to her suspension at the sports network. "Show me the lie," she quipped in return.
Trump would later tweet back at her, "With Jemele Hill at the mike, it is no wonder ESPN ratings have tanked, in fact, tanked so badly it is the talk of the industry."
"Number one, I was super impressed he spelled my name right," she said when asked what her reaction to Trump's tweet was. "Grammar is not really his thing." But she added that as a journalist “you live for that moment,” and she was ultimately amused and took it as a compliment.
As for whether Trump's presidency has meant politics and sports are more connected than ever, Hill said this is nothing new. "They've always been connected…they’ve always touched and mixed together,” she said, citing political sports stars Muhammad Ali and Jackie Robinson as examples.

Jimmy Kimmel’s Aunt Recruits Chippendales Dancers for Birthday Prank
Jimmy Kimmel had an abrupt beginning to his birthday Tuesday. The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host shared that he always wakes up to an early morning phone call from his aunt on his birthday.
But this year, the host shared that his aunt recruited help from his wife and brother to fly from Las Vegas to Los Angeles to wish her nephew a happy birthday in person. After the audience applauded, Kimmel said, "No, no, no. This is not something I want to be encouraged."
The prerecorded clip began by showing Aunt Chippy sleeping. Wearing hair curlers and a red onesie that has Kimmel's face all over it, Chippy heads to her nephew's house, bringing along men carrying a giant box, a man adorned in flashing lights and another dressed as a candle. She explained that she brought the Chippendales dancers, who she referred to as the "Chippy-dales," to help her wake up Kimmel.
"He's gonna hate this one," said Kimmel's wife, Molly McNearney, as the group made their way into the house. The group loudly sang, "Rise and shine and give God the glory, glory" as Chippy banged a spoon against a pot. A groggy Kimmel looked around the room as the group continued to sing.
"Surprise! Aunt Chippy and her Aunt Chippendales" announced Chippy at the end of the performance. The male dancers then took off their robes before the group began to sing "Happy Birthday" to Kimmel. During the song, the dancers came closer to Kimmel's bed and eventually sat on it. The man dressed in lights also shot a confetti cannon.
