On 17 May 2022, not much difference has been seen in the price of gold as compared to earlier.
- The price of 24 carat gold is 50,450 per 10 grams.
- The price of 22 carat gold is ₹ 47,440 per 10 grams.
- The price of 18 carat gold is ₹ 34,218 per 10 grams.
What Is The Difference Between 18 Carat & 22 Carat Jewellery?
When it comes to gold jewellery, about 25 per cent copper is mixed in 18 carat jewellery and less amount of copper or any other alloy in 22 carat.
Actually, the form of 24 carat gold is very flexible and jewellery can’t be made with it. Therefore, some other kind of metal is added to it. As far as 18 carat gold is concerned, it is much cheaper as it has more alloys. However, if we talk about the colour and purity of 22 carat gold, then it is slightly less bright and yellow than 22 carat.

The amount of gold in 18 carat is less which is why its price is also low. It is mostly used in diamond jewellery so the price of jewellery made from it always increases. If you take only gold jewellery made in 18 carat, then its price will be less but its resale value will also be less and its lustre will also not be that much.
Stones are rarely used in 22 carat jewellery because due to the purity of gold, it is a bit flexible. Therefore, if you want to buy jewellery made only from gold, then you should buy 22 carat which will have high lustre, resale value and purity.

Why Is Diamond Jewellry Made In 18 Carats?
Diamond is a very precious stone and in such a situation, it is very important that a diamond ring or any other jewellery piece will keep the stone protected. The diamond might fall out of 22 carat gold because it is flexible. This is why copper is added to gold. This way it will become more strong. Copper (benefits of drinking water from copper vessel) is red and this is why the colour of gold in diamond jewellery is different.
18 Carat Vs 22 Carat: What Should You Buy?
The answer is simple. If you want to invest in diamonds then 18 carat will be best and if you want to buy only gold jewellery then 22 carat will be best. However, there are some designs in gold that require harder gold to be made which are made in 18 carats.
Nowadays, jewellery has started coming in 14 carat as well, but its purity is less and hence, its price is also less.
