Take a romp with four college girls navigating their first year at a Boston college. Meet Kate, the girl next door; Debbie, the leggy, red-headed cheerleader; Aria, the punk rocker wannabe; and Cybil, the fragile ballerina.
From the beginning, Trashy Novel grabbed my interest. The title lured me in and surprises multiplied as the coeds made choices--some good and some not so good--about how they wanted to pursue their educations. The educations they received were not limited to textbooks! There is a glacial shift in the playful plot at the end which delivers the biggest surprise of all. This is a novel that can be enjoyed by adults of any age.
The first 2/3 of this book were a lot of fun and I greatly enjoyed it. It seemed as if the author wanted to subvert expectations and end it in a way that no one expected. While that was true in my case, the twist didn't really work for me and I ended up feeling let down.
I received this as a Goodreads Giveaway, but I couldn't get beyond page 52. The dialogue is stilted; the book reads like a hastily written teenager's journal.
