Drypool Bridge, Hull
One of two decorative metal panels from the old Drypool Bridge, incorporated into the walkway below the control tower of the new one. The bridge now crossing the River Hull between Clarence Street and Alfred Gelder Street is an electrically operated Scherzer rolling lift bridge, completed in 1961 to replace the old 16 ft wide wrought iron swing bridge built in 1888 which by the 1950s had become a notorious bottleneck.
