Shobdon Arches
The Shobdon Arches were original part of Shobdon's medieval church, they were the chancel arch and the north and south doorways. When the present Shobdon church was built in 1752-56 these remnants of the medieval church were erected here as a folly or eyecatcher which was popular in the mid-18th century. Unfortuntely the revages of over 250 years of weather and vandalism have taken their toll and the once fine carving have deteriorated. The Arches are Grade II listed; see: LinkExternal link
