This was the day of the 20th anniversary of parkrun which started with 13 runners in a London park and now has over 200,000 participants in the Uk and takes place at 2,500 locations in 22 countries.
parkrun
parkrun organise weekly 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, are free, safe and easy to take part in. Most parkruns start at 0900 on Saturdays.
parkruns take place in parks and open spaces and enable people of every ability to take part: from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; for those seeking to lose weight or improve their fitness; all are welcome.
parkrun started with one event in 2004 and by October 2024 had grown to cover over 900 events in the UK attracting around 200,000 runners, joggers and walkers every week.
