This was a new turnpike road in 1818, and Netherton village grew up along it. It is mostly in the Mag Lordship division of South Crosland township (in the days when local government was really local!). The new building on the right is a health centre.
Visitor Mark Whitehead has informed us " This footpath was known as 'The Killy' and leads from Meltham Road, Netherton by the wells down to Station Road."
