NZ4802 : Whorlton Castle gatehouse by Gordon Hatton Whorlton Castle gatehouse
The view of the 14thC gatehouse from within the castle bailey. To the left can be seen the outline of an old roofline as there was once a cottage built against the wall. The red stain is a mystery.
NZ4802 : Disused stables beside Whorlton Castle by Trevor Littlewood Disused stables beside Whorlton Castle
It's assumed by its appearance that the building lying just east of Whorlton Castle was stabling. Clearly, as there are no doors in place that purpose can not currently, (April 2017), be served.
