Gort River looking northeast, Gort
Gort River looking northeast, Gort
The countryside around the town is of geological interest as it consists of a porous limestone. The Gort River rather unusually disappears and reappears several times before it goes underground for the last time, just outside the town, in the other direction. See:- M4501 : Gort River looking south, Gort. Photographed from the bridge taking the N18 road across the river.
