The FSF board of directors calls all associate members who fit the criteria to join the FSF's board discussion forum, and to use this form to suggest other people who could valuably contribute to the discussion.

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) voting members have announced the next step in the FSF board governance process and a review of all its current board directors serving before March 1, 2024. The process started October 21, 2024.

After having selected three new board members this year, the FSF Board of Directors is now turning its attention inwards as previously announced. A review of the members of the board of directors began on October 21, 2024. The board members under review in this process will be Ian Kelling, Geoff Knauth, Henry Poole, Richard Stallman, and Gerald Sussman.

The directors will undergo a similar process as the newly selected board members. The purpose of this review is for the associate members to help the voting members obtain information to help them decide whether to retain each existing board member.

The associate members are asked to bring information to light by means of asking questions and having useful discussion that the voting members will be able to use in making their decision. This is a great opportunity for FSF supporters to get to know the board members, and for the board members to get to know some associate members.

As in the previous discussion rounds, the role of the associate members is to help the FSF voting members make decisions regarding each board member up for review. This entails posing relevant questions, gathering information, and sharing findings with each other to build upon. As vital as this part of the process is in determining which members our board of directors is made up of, the FSF associate members do not vote with the voting members. The FSF associate members' job is important, because it ensures that the voting members will have the best information available when it comes time for each board member's individual review.

A list of the FSF's current board of directors and voting members can be found on its staff and board page.
