The official synopsis for episode two reads: "Perez reassures Rachel that last night's horrific discovery may have nothing to do with the disappearance of her son Connor.

"Danny is outraged at the decision to let Pepper Waldron's family return home to Ayrshire - and news soon comes in that the ex-cop has fled Shetland.

"Perez has no choice but to follow him, and soon finds himself caught up in a perilous journey into the ex-cop's past."

Season seven marks Douglas Henshall's last series as Jimmy Perez as he felt the character's storyline had come to a natural end.

Fans are yet to find out whether anyone new will be replacing him as the leader of the investigations.

Shetland airs on BBC One on Wednesday at 9pm.
