The Grand Opening Game Plan - Kris Olivo
Chapter 1
Why We Wrote This Book
When you develop a game plan to get what you want, you will develop a belief that you can get it.
- Zig Ziglar
Most people that want to start a business dream of the same thing. They dream of long lines of eager customers ready to buy their products or services. But in actuality, that isn't what most individuals experience. Almost fifty percent of businesses fail during the first five years.
*According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), approximately 20% of new businesses fail during the first two years of being open, 45% during the first five years, and 65% during the first 10 years.
Unfortunately, this makes the statistics much more gloomy than encouraging. But that doesn't always have to be the case. The truth is, the odds stack up against your favor. But that's because the playing field isn't always level.
In this book, we're attempting to show you some things that have helped us level the playing field for others. That way, if you're going to play the game of opening a business, you have a great shot at winning from the very start.
Before we start, please do me a favor and imagine something. Think back to all your hard work to get where you are. Think back to all the blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifices you had to make to get here. Reflect on the risks you took yourself. Think about the people who doubted you, the money you saved to invest in your business, and finally start it.
Now, please jump into the future and imagine day one of your business. You open the doors, and a massive flood of customers come crashing through, ready to try your service or product. You feel amazing. Everything is running, and it feels like all that sacrifice has paid off. You feel validated. You are successful. How does that feel? What does it mean to you? Because that's exactly how our client felt when we first helped him open up his business in Las Vegas. We want you to feel the same thing. This book is about how to get massive amounts of customers with a systematic approach. This works even if you've already opened and your grand opening didn't go as well as planned.
Now, if you're like other business owners I know, I can guess what you're feeling now. You're reading this book because you want a successful grand opening.
You might feel overwhelmed by opening a business without having an excellent roadmap. You have a game plan and want to see other things other people have done to succeed with their openings. You may have already opened, felt disappointed because it didn't go as you had hoped, or you've been open for a while. You're struggling with customer acquisition at this point.
If any of those things are true, I want you to keep reading because this book might change your business.

Chapter 2
What We’ve Learned After 100+ Grand Openings
Knowledge is power. Information is liberating.
- Kofi Annan
We like to lead with value, so let's start with the main point.
After launching more than 100 grand openings, there's a secret we've learned.
We have found a repeatable and scalable formula for success that anyone can learn.
And it doesn't matter if your business is brick-and-mortar or online.
If you want massive amounts of customers lining up at your grand opening, this formula can help you.
You can use this same formula to fix poor grand openings that lacked strategy. You can also use this formula to relaunch grand openings that never happened in the first place.
This can seem messy, so we have broken it down into a digestible, step-by-step process.
And that's what we're going to teach you in this book.
But first, I want to share a story about one of our clients, we'll call her Laura.
Laura broke the grand opening record in her franchise - twice.
Let's talk about the first one.
Laura was opening a business in Odessa, Texas, when she came to our agency to help plan her grand opening.
In her strategy session, she said, I want to be the best franchisee in this franchise. I want to have the biggest opening and the most customers.
We love that kind of energy and took it to heart.
So, we followed the formula.
Following the steps in this book, we:
Set her up with a foundation for success.
Determined who her audience was and where they were consuming content.
Crafted an unbeatable offer.
Launched ads on social media.
Coached her on local marketing practices.
And then we watched the appointments pour in.
On Grand Opening Day, she and her team executed a record of 101 services in a single day.
The previous single-day franchise record was 87 services.
Over the Grand Opening Weekend (Saturday and Sunday), she totaled 163 services.
That's how you want to launch a business -
