The Como Collection
The Como Sofa Collection, brought to life by Italian designer Giorgio Soressi, embodies the perfect balance of comfort and craftsmanship. Introduced in 2007, this collection includes a range of generous seating options: sofas, sectionals, ottomans, and single-seater armchairs. Each piece in the Como Collection cuts a distinct silhouette against any backdrop; splayed aluminum legs support thick, plush cushions bound in fabric or leather; deep seats invite deep lounging.
Como Sofa Construction + Materials
With a slim frame and polished cast-aluminum legs, the Como Sofa cuts a sleek silhouette that contrasts nicely with its plush, inviting cushions. The sofa’s steel frame is structured without being severe, the perfect outfit for the sofa’s upholstery.
Como’s generously proportioned cushions are designed for ultimate comfort – filled with natural goose feathers and a variable-density foam, they offer supportive softness. The front of the cushion is slightly firmer, ensuring posture support, while the rest of the cushion is plusher and more yielding. This thoughtful, technically precise combination of materials gives the Como Collection its signature comfort.
The collection’s upholstery options include both fabric and leather, catering to different aesthetic preferences and home decor styles. Leather options include full grain and semi-aniline Prone and Raise Leathers in numerous natural hues; fabric options include various blends of wools, cotton, and synthetics in velvet, bouclé, and other smooth and textured finishes, available in a full rainbow of muted and bright colors. Como’s back cushions are filled with Piumafil® yarns, a biodegradable, Oeko-Tex® certified material made of 85% cotton and 15% natural kapok fibers, enhancing both comfort and sustainability.
Designing Como
Giorgio Soressi’s approach to design is deeply personal and rooted in his artistic background. Growing up in Cremona, Italy, Soressi was surrounded by creativity from an early age. His father, a concert violinist, filled the family home with music. Soressi quickly developed his own passion for music, which later matured into a passion for art and design. He recalls drawing on floors with white gesso as a child, and now brings that same uninhibited creativity to his work, drawing and painting and designing on any surface available.
Soressi approaches his work with a versatile desire to make meaningful, soulful creations. He is known for incorporating a part of himself into each design, infusing his pieces with a sense of life and character. For Soressi, a well-made object must have soul; without it, he believes, the design is “nothing.” This philosophy is evident in the Como Collection, where every meticulous detail speaks to the human care and craftsmanship that went into the design.
The Como Collection is produced by a renowned family-run company near Italy’s Lake Como, where Soressi collaborated with skilled artisans to bring his design to life. This manufacturer, known for its commitment to quality, combines cutting-edge technology with artisanal craftsmanship. Every element of the Como Collection, from the solid steel frame to the plush goose feather cushions, is designed with comfort and longevity in mind, ensuring that each piece can be enjoyed for years to come. With the Como Collection, Giorgio Soressi has imagined an Italian classic.
