'Tis the season for graduation parties! When you decorate for your graduate, be sure to decorate with pictures! Not just their senior portraits but printed pictures of your high school graduate growing up throughout the years. Here are a few ideas you can copy for your own backyard graduation party. 


One little pro tip, you probably don't want to place your gorgeous senior portrait album out near the punch and sticky desserts as shown in this picture. Keep that item in the house for sharing with grandma when she needs to escape the heat of June. 

If you have an easel or can borrow one, take your favorite framed portraits right off the wall for another decoration for the party area. Showcasing your graduate like this will make them feel extra celebrated and the star of the day. It's the little things that when brought out and shown with pride that will make a big difference.

I think this cupcake topper with cap and gown portraits of your graduate is totally adorable. Simply print out on your printer then use a circle punch cutter or another fun shape to cut them out before gluing to a wooden stick. I think it would be a great idea to have a mix of photos throughout the years of your graduate, as long as your graduate would like that. You want your senior to feel special and loved so no embarrassing photos.

Create a through the years banner. Your guests would love to see themselves alongside your senior if you can find photos of friends when they were very little, they will love the nostalgia! Hang on a string, bunting banner, or create a large collage covering the class year numbers, like this:

You could spend hours on pinterest looking at all the DIY party decoration ideas. In my opinion, keeping your decorations limited to what your graduate would actually want to keep in her room are your classiest options. Will your senior want a bunch of centerpieces with paper graduation caps & tassels all over them? Probably not. So stick to using portraits, flowers, and beautifully set out food and you cannot go wrong. 

If you have extra time and you have many teenagers coming to your home or party location, there is one more fun thing you could add to your backyard graduation party. A photo booth for friends to gather and take pictures at. You can rent these or create them. Here is an example of one that I think is nice because your graduate could put all those beautiful paper flowers up in her bedroom or new college dorm room after the party. So, it's kind of a gift in itself!
