he'll just spoonfeed his BS to the Fox News and Infowars crowd and they'll believe it or not care

(95,216 posts)I am sure they (whoever that is) count on it.
As a result I need to remind myself daily that we are not Trump Nation -- every act of resistance from whatever corner it comes is a reminder, and I try to make it conscious. Belive me, it is not complacency-- that punch in the gut doubled me over to the point I still wonder why I'm not vomiting blood.

(238 posts)While I don't have the high-powered credentials of most of the people signing the letter, I do carry a little bit of weight.
-- Retired Army infantry and intelligence officer with 30 years of service
-- As an infantry office: Platoon leader and company commander in Vietnam, wounded during both tours.
-- Third tour in Vietnam, adviser to South Vietnamese infantry division, wounded so badly could not continue in infantry, transferred to Military Intelligence.
-- I'm second-generation Swiss, grew up speaking German and French at home. Spent 20 years in Military Intelligence (Army) with my lat three assignments in a CIA cover job.
-- I recognize a dozen names on the list as people I worked for, worked with, or encountered back when I was a spook.
I'd like to add my name to the list.

(8,200 posts)Any truly patriotic American would love to add their name to the list. The requirement of true patriotism disqualifies the entirety of the Republican congressmen and women who fail to speak up. The fact is that the vast majority of Republicans who had the opportunity to serve their country used every excuse available, including fraudulent medical claims, to avoid service. They don't honor the flag they spit on it with their lies.
P.S. As a vet with buddies that made the ultimate sacrifice I think that anyone who served deserves be on the list far more than some.
