The Prince and Princess of Wales have taken centre stage recently and their appearances in the last week may be a sign of what's to come, according to the Mail's Richard Eden.
Looking back at Prince William and Princess Kate's engagements, Richard said, 'I really do feel we have had a glimpse of the future this week,' speaking on Mail+'s Palace Confidential.
Last Friday, Kate hosted her fourth Christmas Carol Service at Westminster Abbey which Richard, sitting alongside the Mail on Sunday's Charlotte Griffiths and Natasha Livingstone, described as 'the centre piece of the royal week'.
The festive 'Together at Christmas' event, was attended by many royals, though King Charles and Queen Camilla were not present, and will be televised on Christmas Eve.
Kate attended meetings to plan the service earlier this year and saw the magical finishing touches were complete on the day by arriving early.
Later on, wearing an Alexander McQueen red coat topped with a black bow, she was joined by William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
'And then we have had Prince William meeting the next president and carrying out those engagements overseas,' Richard added.
The day after the carol service, on Saturday, William met US President-elect Donald Trump in Paris at the re-opening of the Notre-Dame.

The pair shook hands and reconvened later that day, with Trump describing the royal as 'very handsome' and a 'good man'.
William's landmark meeting with Trump was expected to include discussions of the relationship between the US and the UK.
Richard praised both Kate and William's recent engagements and expressed how them leading the Royal Family in such a way is 'very encouraging'.
'It has felt like they have taken the lead, and lets say they've done it extremely well, so it's a relief and it shows how strong the Royal Family is for the next generation, and that's very encouraging,' he added.
It comes as Kate has gradually started to participate in more public engagements since completing her cancer treatment.
Last month, she made her first appearance in months at the Festival of Remembrance event at the Royal Albert Hall. Kate was accompanied by William, who put a reassuring hand on her back as they entered the venue.
The following day, Kate attended the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph on Whitehall in London and was seen standing by Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh while William and King Charles laid wreaths.
Earlier this month, she was present at the official state visit of the Emir of Qatar and his wife and wore another Alexandra McQueen piece, styling herself in the colours of the Qatari flag.

Reflecting on the Princess of Wales's conduct in her recent appearances, the Mail on Sunday's Editor at Large, Charlotte described how Kate has grown into her role as the future Queen.
'She's a real Queen in waiting I think, and she's always had such amazing poise, great fashion sense and she's just grown into the job so well,' she said.
William's recent appearances have also included joining in with festivities at the Picton Barracks in Wiltshire. He chatted with servicemen, women and their families and gave out presents.
Charlotte went on to agree with Richard that the past week felt like 'a glimpse of the future'.
