Fortune Cookies

Introduction

It is impossible to predict the future, we all know, yet many of us still try to do it in one way or another. We love to hear correct predictions, even though most who attempt it tend to get it wrong. It has not helped that more than one charlatan has hung out a futurist shingle, interested only in telling people what they want (or do not want) to hear to make money. People often seem curious of the foreshadowing of their future. Astrology, horoscopes, fortune cookies and even palm reading are practices that the global population participates in daily. The art of reading is not only for casual, pedestrian purposes but more so, the writer's intention is always overlooked but yet quite critical.

A Language Arts Webquest for Inetrmediate learners between the age of 12-15 years old.

Teacher Introduction

Students will learn about a simple classroom activity designed to assess student comfort with future tenses while providing practice talking about future plans and predictions. It has been a common finding that students are challenged by the application of the simple future tense in real-life scenarios. A challenge of teaching intermediate Language Arts is that students have seen it before but are not able to synthesis its use with its formation.  In particular, students have knowledge and experience with the basic tenses. However, for this lesson, the goal is not to start at the beginning but to aim a little higher and allow the students to transform their previous knowledge of the tense formation into a real application of its use.

List of Resources

Students will be provided by all the material used as visual aids in the lessons and feedback resources will be presented to them email for them to complete during and post lesson delivery.
