It should come as no surprise that two of the most popular months to get married—May and June—perfectly coincide with peak dahlia season. Sure, swoon-worthy peonies and gorgeous garden roses are still among the most popular flowers for wedding bouquets, but it's safe to say that dahlias are far from a bloom you'd want to ignore. In fact, today's brides are even clamoring for the dahlia to be the focal point of their arrangements. 

What we truly love about this symmetrical flower is that it’s able to make a big impact and can be far less expensive than other popular wedding blooms. Specifically, the dahlia's affordability is in large part due to its long growing season. These blooms grow abundantly for several months, in comparison to peonies which only peak during late spring—meaning, you'll pay more to use peonies than dahlias for your big day bouquet.

Additionally, while they're certainly practical, there's no denying that dahlias are incredibly beautiful, too. And with tons of different varieties—including single-flowered, waterlily-shaped, ball-shaped, and cactus-dahlias—you're bound to find a color and shape you love that fits perfectly with your wedding aesthetic.
