FA Cup: AFC Bournemouth 4-0 Luton Town highlights

Dominic Solanke scored his first goal for Bournemouth exactly a year after joining as the Premier League side defeated Luton Town in the FA Cup.

The 22-year-old, who joined from Liverpool for £19m, turned home from close range to seal victory.

Danish midfielder Phil Billing scored twice while Callum Wilson scored a minute after coming on.

Luton had a great chance to make it 1-1 from the spot but Alan Sheehan fired his effort against the crossbar.

Solanke was also denied a goal earlier in the match when VAR ruled that Harry Wilson was in an offside position as the striker's header beat Simon Sluga in goal.

Cherries show second-half bite

This was Bournemouth's first win in five games, but despite the handsome scoreline this was not a fully convincing display against the bottom side in the Championship.

Aside from Billing's early strike - also his first for the Cherries - and Solanke's disallowed effort they struggled to test Croatian keeper Sluga during the eventful first period.

The Hatters, on the other hand, looked dangerous on the break and came close to scoring through Harry Cornick.

The 24-year-old, who spent four years at Bournemouth without making an appearance, picked up a loose pass from Billing before striking a fierce effort that was pushed away by Mark Travers.

Then came Luton's big opportunity. It was Billing again at fault when he brought down Matty Pearson in the area - verified by VAR - and referee Darren England pointed to the spot.

Sheehan stepped up to take it, but smacked his effort against the woodwork. That was as close as the Hatters got to scoring.

Striker Wilson eased the Cherries' nerves in the 67th minute when he tapped in with his first touch a minute after coming on before Billing struck home his second, via a deflection off Donervon Daniels.

Then came the moment which produced the biggest cheer of the match. A defensive mess in the Luton area allowed Solanke a sight on goal, his initial strike was blocked but he was given a second chance when the ball fell back into his path.
