David Ball confident of success at Peterborough United

Peterborough United striker David Ball believes he has the potential to score regularly at Championship level.

The 21-year-old has been recalled from his loan spell with Rochdale, having notched four goals in eight matches.

Ball, who has scored three times for the Posh this season, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, external: "I'm back and now I want to play for Peterborough.

"I've proved that if you give me a run of games then I will score goals on a regular basis."

Ball scored in Posh's opening day win over Crystal Palace, but joined Rochdale on loan following the arrival of Emile Sinclair from Macclesfield.

Many fans were surprised to see the former Manchester City man make the move, and Ball himself has admitted it all happened very quickly.

"At first I was quite shocked to be offered the chance to go out on loan, but it's been a good chance to work on getting fitter and stronger," he said.

"Rochdale isn't too far from home for me, I know the manager there [Steve Eyre] well really well and my girlfriend was also having our baby up there so it made sense."

Ball has started 10 matches since arriving at London Road in January with 17 of his appearances coming off the bench.

With Nicky Ajose having joined Scunthorpe on loan and Lee Tomlin currently out through injury, Ball is firmly back in contention for a place in the side.

He will be competing with Paul Taylor and Emile Sinclair for a start at Bristol City on Saturday.
