Your QuestionsLife On Mars Co-Creator and Lead Writer Matthew Graham answers your questions. The Plot:"Sam Tyler apparently interfered with the past by not allowing the younger version of himself to witness his father commit murder in the woods. Therefore, if he did not witness it as a boy, how does the older Sam still remember this event from his childhood as it did not happen?" - Gary, Croydon Matthew Graham: Don't make my head hurt Gary! I think you're assuming that he genuinely is back in time. Which he might be. Or might not be. I'm a frustrating person aren't I? "Why can't Sam leave himself a message for the future if he really is a time traveller?" - Tony Ward, Manchester Matthew Graham: Maybe he will Tony. But it hasn't occurred to him as yet. "Where did the inspiration for the spooky test-card girl come from?" - Luckystar, Hollywood Matthew Graham: I always found that girl creepy. I think the idea itself was inspired by several Bacardi and cokes with Ashley Pharoah and Tony Jordan. I had an auntie called Luckystar. "Did you film two alternative endings to the first series? One to show if it was popular and developed into a second series, and one to show in the event of the show not being very popular?" - Alwyn Wood, Telford, Shropshire Matthew Graham: No. The show always ended in 1973. I was going to have a cliffhanger ending with Sam getting shot or shooting Gene or something. But in the end we all decided that the poor guy deserved a bit of happiness even if he is still trapped. We always hoped to do a second series but I did play with a few different types of ending. Never with Sam leaving 1973 though. |
