Great combat system, story is a great follow-up to X. Not as good as X, but very few things are.

I couldn't play this shit, it's so ass man

genuinely one of the worst games i have ever played, backwards mechanics that are unrewarding, a cringy plot with no charm and confusing gameplay, making it, in my opinion the WORST final fantasy game

i wanted to love this game, i really wanted to. and it's not like i hate it, but i wanted to enjoy this more than i did.

starting with the bad things: the battle system really was a let down for me. it wasn't terrible, but i think ff10 was so so close to perfection with its turn-based system, only to shift into the real time battle system ff10-2 has. i also didn't enjoy switching dress spheres during the battle, in comparison to switching party members in ff10. again, not a terrible system but just a massive downgrade to the almost perfect system from the prior title.

the characters in this game also felt a little weaker. i still love the main three girls, but most side characters did not land for me. gippal and his friends - whose names i forgot less than an hour after finishing the game now - had potential but just did not deliver.
as for shuyin and lenne, i think they were fine. there could've - and should've - been more about those two, but i did enjoy the little mystery they offered.

and lastly, some minor complaints, but the voice acting and the graphics had more instances in this title where it bothered me. that's sadly an overall problem with those games, but not one that makes me enjoy the games much less.

as for things i enjoyed; the music is great! real emotions & 1000 words were great, even if i believe the cut to 1000 words was a little awkward (yuna's talking & singing voices are VERY different so it sounds weird at first). overall the music in other areas was enjoyable too, even if i mostly prefer the original area themes and such.

the highlight of this game is undoubtedly yuna. her character arc is amazing and seeing her become her own person and do what SHE wanted to do was amazing! i really grew to love her more thanks to this game.

paine is a great addition to the cast too and she bounces off nicely of rikku & yuna. she has a great design, but so does yuna with her re-design! i still feel very neutral on rikku.

the ending of the game might be divisive, but i was really happy to see tidus again! i do believe they could've - and should've - done more with him, hint at his return and develop him and yuna at the end a little more. but i am just genuinely happy yuna & him got their happy ending now, even if it doesn't entirely feel that happy.
