Why Is This Important?

Marvel hit a homerunner with Daredevil on Netflix, but Ant-Man might be the studio's first strikeout.

Long Story Short

Marvel just released the first full trailer for Ant-Man and while it's cool (great visuals, costumes) the story and dialogue seem a bit stunted.

Long Story

Marvel and Disney are now reaching deeper into to the well in order to expand the MCU. Ant-Man was always a big part of the comic book world and the Avengers.

In the trailer, we get a better look at the relationship between Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd). We also get our first real look at Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll).

Some of the action sequences are pretty cool (jumping onto the gun) but it's a lot more CGI-y (in a bad way) than Marvel's other movies. Since we're dealing with a superhero that shrinks down to the size of a bug and interacts with an army of ants, this was to be expected. Hopefully the effects are polished a bit more by the time the movie hits screens on July 17.

While I'm a bit skeptical of this one, I'll admit that I will still shell out to see this on opening day. Marvel is becoming a bit like Apple — people keep expecting flops but they just keep wowing us.
