I am from the era of the 60's to the mid 80's before the WWE and all the Steroid-ed guys that run in to fireworks and music and then can barely wrestle for 15 minutes without wearing down. I wanted something comprehensive that would cover all eras of wrestling and these guys sounded like they knew what they were talking about but I was disappointed when I read this.
They go through all the era's fairly thoroughly up to the present. The problem is whatever era in whatever chapter they write about the pictures are usually their favorites. Way too many pictures of Jessie Ventura, Adrian Adonis, and Bruiser Brody regardless of the Section (even the women's). Some of the photo's are mislabeled, there are misspells and the information was inconsistent (in one section, Vivian Vachon was correctly identified as the little sister of Mad Dog and Butcher. In another section she was identified as the daughter of Butcher).
Even at the rear "Slammagories" section I would have been happier with more information and the true Heights and Weights of the Wrestlers. From just my exposure as a learned fan, I could have contributed a lot to that section. Again most of the accompanying photo's were of present WWE stars
Though it was a fun read, and I learned a few things, I would have been really upset if I had paid full price for this. It isn't worth it!
Encyclopedia? More like reminiscing and anecdotes off the tops of the Author's heads!
