About the author
Brett Larsen, a prominent figure in the fields of UFOlogy, the paranormal, and music, has dedicated over 15 years to exploring the enigmatic world of the unexplained. His fascination with the extraterrestrial began in elementary school, and for nearly two decades, he has been an ardent researcher of ghosts, the paranormal, cryptids, and conspiracies.
As the driving force behind the band Inquire Within, Brett's musical journey is nothing short of extraordinary. In 2017, he led the creation of "Universe In My Head," a groundbreaking album that united 16 musicians from across the globe. Among these contributors were luminaries from renowned bands like MEGADETH and The Devin Townsend Project, adding a layer of depth and diversity to the music that defies easy categorization.
Brett's remarkable journey has led him to participate in transformative UFO gatherings at iconic locations such as ECETI Ranch. Here, he had the privilege of not only sharing his passion for the extraterrestrial but also releasing his first solo EP, "Samvartaka Fire," and performing alongside prominent figures in the UFO disclosure field like Billy Carson and Jimmy Church.
In March 2020, Brett released his second full-length album, "Meditation For The Devil." This solo project displayed his diverse musical talents, incorporating elements ranging from ethereal pop to death metal. His unique background, including his studies in film scoring under the legendary composer Hans Zimmer, has enriched his music with cinematic flair.
The future holds exciting prospects as Brett prepares to launch his third full-length album, "Alien Elite: Perception Warfare." This project promises to be a fusion of rock and metal, interwoven with his signature cinematic touch.
Brett Larsen's lifelong dedication to unraveling the unexplained, combined with his achievements in music and his collaborations with celebrated musicians, make him a singular source of knowledge and insight in the realms of the mysterious and the supernatural.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Brett is a devoted family man. He is happily married with two children and shares his life with an awesome dog named Phantom, who is a constant companion on his explorations of the extraordinary.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2024Yes, a book with a cryptid for each state of the union.
Each entry is a few pages long and has one color pic of the cryptid, all are scary looking and a few show artistic license, which is cool as the author pointed out a number are probably made up.
I like how the author used multiple sources, in print and online, to research each entry, a few even mention books that he consulted. Alas, he did not include a bibliography.
There is a variety of beings. By my own count, 6 Bigfoot type monsters, 10 lake monsters, 2 sea monsters, 2 swamp monsters, 3 little beings, 5 flying cryptids, 2 witchy types, 5 lupine types, 2 feline types, and a vampire. One of a kinds that do not fit such broad categories are the Dark Watchers of California, Melon Heads, Specter Moose, Goat Man, Slide-Rock Bolter, Dover Demon, Wendigo, Frogmen, Squonk, Chupacabra, Pigman, and Jackalope.
It is unusual for a book of this kind to actually devote a few pages to the Slide Rock Bolter and the Squonk, most books would have shorter entries for these beings. For that matter, few books do devote a few pages to the Woods Devils of New Hampshire and the Little Devils of Spirit Mound in South Dakota.
There are only a few errors and oversights. An example of the former is that he repeats the alleged Cherokee myth about the origin of the Wampus Cat, by this late date other books that are either older than this book or almost as new as this book have pointed out that researchers have proven that that story is an example of fake lore, something that a writer made up, which is curious as the author did expose some cryptids as possibly having originated as newspaper hoaxes.
An example of the latter is that in the entry for the Jersey Devil, he correctly summarized alternate origin myths but somehow overlooked the fact that some think that the monster was based upon the wyvern that appeared on almanacs by the Leeds family, thus the boogey was possibly in part the invention of a rival of the Leeds who also printed almanacs. On the other hand, the entry on the Snallygaster is thorough and even compares the rash of alleged sightings in 1909 to those of the Jersey Devil the same year and there is a paragraph of a version of the Snallygaster in the Harry Potter universe.
I must note that the chapter Washington : Sasquatch/Bigfoot includes a little on similar monsters that do not have their own entries such as Hairy Man, Yayali and Ste-Ye-Hah, just to name three, and it is the longest entry in the book because of this, and, yes, a few monsters actually appear in more than one state.
Overall, a great book.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2024The book is short. If it was formatted correctly (like a real book) it would probably be only 30 pages long. The typeset is large and the borders wide. On the book it states that the author researched extensively but there is really no research at all. Only a few anecdotal mentions in newspaper's etc.
You could probably get all the books info off the internet. Save your money for something better.
