Directions

1. Place the Med-E-Lert Automatic Pill Dispenser in a convenient location. 2. Use the six dosage rings to guide medication placement. 3. Set alarm times according to your medication schedule. 4. Insert the key to lock the dispenser and prevent unauthorized access. 5. When the alarm sounds, open the dispenser to access your medications. 6. Replace batteries when the low battery alert appears, retaining settings after replacement.

    Bought this for my mother who was getting her meds mixed up. We used it for the first week after it arrived. It comes with an obscure lid tht you can exchange the clear one for. I could not get the clear one off for fear of breaking it so I left it. I found the design quite akward as they make each pill compartment in a wedge shape. When yuo put 5 pills into the compartment they get wedged in it. The directions show tipping the machine up and the pills fall out. Not very often. Pills are jammed in it and you end up having to tap it on a table to get the pills out. It is too small to get your finger in to scoop them out in case you were wondering. I found that tapping the pills out would have them sometimes spill out and roll away. The other design flaw was the lock on the bottom. I found it very hard to open. My able bodied wife On the day the machine stopped working ( 2 weeks of use) could not open it. Then there is the warranty. Maybe all the tapping dislodged something I dont know. The machine came with a 1 year warranty but the companies website was not active. I did reach someone by phone there and was told I would have to contact the Amazon seller. Amazon gave me a number but they are no longer an amazon seller so I am stuck with a defect. If Mom had not spent 2 month in the hospital between the 2 weeks of use I am sure Amazon would have returened it under the 60 day return policy As they are A great company. But over the 60 days and I am stuck with a dud. This is not sour grapes just an account of what I learned.

    After having this dispenser for a couple of weeks my 92 year old mother has found a way to get more pills out
    March 12 th picked up pills for 28 days by March 22 there was no pills left in it I really don’t understand how she was able to get them out as it was locked This could have ended badly

It was fine for about 9-10 months and then started half-turning, stopping, then showing Err. Sometimes taking the battery out is enough, but over the last few months I've had to basically trigger it over and over by changing the dispense time until it doesn't do Err every time.

    I bought this for an elderly friend who was having memory issues and couldn't remember if he took his medicine. This machine works great. It has multiple schedules so you can customize the meds for different times of day. It is easy to program. The pill cups hold 4 or 5 large pills and holds 6 or 7 medium to small pills. I know that he is getting the correct medicine everyday. The alarm sounds and keeps going off until the machine is turned over which you do when you take the pills. Very simple.

    Once it's done, and you've loaded the pills as needed, it just works.

    I like that that, even if you miss the alarm for some reason, there is a red light that keep flashing to remind you to take your pills.

    As someone who always forgets to take medication, this does the job well.

    We are trying to keep mom at home as long as possible. But it is extremely important that she take her medications timely. This is not an easy task for her. But this pillbox is making it a little bit easier. She doesn't always hear the alarm even though it is reasonably audible, but that is not the fault of the box. She doesn't always remember to take the medication even when she does hear the alarm and does recognize that it's time, but again that's not the fault of the box. She is definitely more likely to be compliant now than she was before, and that's something. We feel like we received value for the money and that the item works appropriately
