Gone are the days when denim jeans might be considered a "basic" staple in one's wardrobe; today's jeans are anything but basic. For proof, look no further than Topshop's "clear knee" jeans and the "bare butt" jeans from Vetements that debuted earlier this year. Nope, there's definitely nothing simple or boring about those pairs of pants.

Now, Reformation has joined the unique jeans club with a eye-catching pair of their own — and it's actually fairly similar to the Vetements collaboration with Levis, but with more of a wallet-friendly price tag. Introducing the Zipper Jean — a high-rise jean with an exposed zipper that opens from front to back (meaning, it unzips all the way open around). For an added detail, the waist of the jeans are frayed, and while it looks like the back has pockets, they're actually an optical illusion. It seems as though the jeans function as a sort of "second skin," considering that the description reads: "Being naked is the #1 most sustainable option - we're #2." Got it; it's almost like not wearing pants — definitely an added bonus.

The Zipper Jean costs $148 on Reformation's website, and is available in sizes 23-29. (Sizes 30 and 31 are listed as "want," prompting you to fill out a wish list of sorts.) As with Reformation's other products, these pants also boast sustainable statistics, like using less water and carbon dioxide in production than the industry standard. Whether or not you're into the style (TBH, it seems like an acquired taste), it's certainly fashion with a good cause.
