Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has agreed with JK Rowling's criticism of Donald Trump as "worse than Voldemort".
The British actor was commenting on a tweet posted by the author last year, describing Potter's nemesis as "nowhere near as bad" as the Republican presidential candidate.
Speaking to Sky Cinema's Craig Dillon at the Empire magazine film festival Empire Live, he said the comparison of Mr Trump to Voldemort was "certainly not without its merits".
Radcliffe, who leapt to fame playing the world's most famous schoolboy wizard, took to the red carpet at the London's O2 Arena event for the premiere of Imperium.
The new film sees him playing an undercover FBI Agent who has to infiltrate a white power group.
When asked for this thoughts on Rowling's comparison of Voldemort to Mr Trump, he said: "I sort of think Donald Trump might not be as ideologically pure as Voldemort.
"My thinking on Trump is that he feels like more of an opportunist - I don't know know how much of this stuff he's saying he actually really, really believes.
"He hides behind the sort of thing of, 'Oh I'm just an entertainer'... that comparison is certainly not without its merits."
Imperium, which is out this weekend, is the latest move in the actor's bid to distance himself from his most famous character.
Fans will see a very different Radcliffe, with his character sporting a shaved head and spewing racial hatred as he goes undercover in a neo-Nazi organisation.
