• Newcastle-upon-Tyne based Busways Travel services is taking delivery of 20 Scalia N113CRB single-deck buses — the first in the UK with transverse rear engines.
The buses, which feature Alexander PS bodywork with 51 seats and room for 24 standing passengers, replace minibuses on two BT routes, one of which is the Metro Centre Shuttle with specially lettered vehicles.
These are BT's first Scanias. They will be evaluated alongside 25 recently delivered Leyland Lynxes and are part of an investment of 60 new buses.
