Opal digital card
The Opal digital card is a mobile version of the Adult Opal card, stored in the digital wallet on your phone. Simply tap on and tap off with your mobile device to pay for public transport, similar to using a contactless-enabled phone or watch.
The digital card has the same fare and travel benefits of an Adult Opal card. All travel trips and payments can be viewed in the Opal digital card trial app.
The Opal digital card can be used on all public transport within the Opal network. It will not be accepted on OpalPay, Transport Park&Ride and On Demand services.
When you are setting up your Opal digital card trial app you will be automatically setting up an Opal Connect account. Opal Connect enables customers to pay for public and private transport options from a single platform and receive additional benefits and services. It is owned and operated by Transport for NSW.
Your Opal digital card will be directly linked to your Opal Connect account. Your username and password will be accepted on your Opal digital card trial app and on your Opal Connect account. Your Opal Connect account settings will affect your Opal digital card trial app settings and can be accessed and changed via Opal Connect.
No. During the customer trial, you will be given a new Opal digital card which is a separate product.
The Opal Digital Card is issued on behalf of Transport for New South Wales by EML Payment Solutions Limited ABN 30 131 436 532 and will be provisioned into a Mobile Wallet on a Mobile Device. The Opal Digital Card is managed by Mastercard Prepaid Management Services Australia Pty Ltd ABN 47 145 452 044.
