Phado Mahn Nyein Maung not part of KNU

Phado Mahn Nyein Maung had quit from their organization and what he is doing is not related to them, announced Karen National Union on February 3.

The announcement said they found the name of Phado Mahn Nyein Maung is listed in the members of State Administrative Council (SAC), which is released by the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services on February 2.

It said the KNU is the organization which is against the military coup.

The emergency meeting of the Central Committee of the KNU held between July 21 and 23 last year approved the resignation of Phado Mahn Nyein Maung, it said.

He competed in Pantanaw Constituency in Ayeyawady Region in the 2020 general election by representing Kayin People’s Party after he quitted from the KNU.

He also acted as a KNU representative in the meetings of Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) and peace process implemented after signing the NCA.

The SAC was formed on February 2 and Phado Mahn Nyein Maung had been named as the member of SAC.
