Girls' Generation's Yoona Makes Her Solo Debut on World Albums Chart
With a special album tied to her birthday, the singer becomes the latest member of the legendary girl group to bow with an album.
The members of Girls' Generation continue their strong history on the World Albums chart with yet another member making her bow on the tally.
Yoona sees her A Walk to Remember: Special Album EP debut at No. 14 on this week's World Albums tally. While Yoona had previously released solo tracks, first entering the World Digital Song Sales Chart in 2016, A Walk to Remember marks her first album release. The five-track set features a mix of previously released tracks and new songs tied to the singer's 29th birthday on May 30.
Now, Yoona marks the sixth Girls' Gen associate to enter World Albums. The first appearance came via leader Taeyeon in 2015 (whose EP titled I debuted at No. 1 on the chart and marks the highest position for any member), while Tiffany Young first appeared in 2016 (I Just Wanna Dance peaked at No. 3), Seohyun followed in 2017 (Don't Say No also peaked at No. 3) and Yuri most recently entered late last year (The First Scene hit No. 10 in October). Former Girls' Generation member Jessica, who departed the group in 2014, also first entered the chart in 2016 with her EP titled With Love, J that peaked at No. 4.
No tracks from Walk make their way to World Digital Song Sales this week, but the album tracks "Deoksugung Stonewall Walkway" and "When the Wind Blows" both previously entered the tally, bowing at Nos. 7 and 8, respectively. To date, Yoona's best-selling song in America is "Deoksugung Stonewall Walkway" with the 10cm-featuring track selling 2,000 downloads so far, according to Nielsen Music.
