The french video game development und publishing giant Ubisoft acquired the developer Blue Mammoth Games, the guys behind the free to play hit ‘Brawlhalla’. Blue Mammoth Games, founded in 2009 by video game veterans Lincoln Hamilton and Matt Woomer, is an independent game development studio based in Atlanta, Georgia.
On Brawlhalla’s official website, it was officially announced that Ubisoft acquired Blue Mammoth Games on 01 March 2018. Blue Mammoth Games is an in Atlanta based indie developer, founded by Lincoln Hamilton and Matt Woomer in 2009. Lincoln Hamilton worked on several games in the past like the MMO City of Heroes, Champions Online, and World of Darkness. Matt Woomer can be as well called a ‘video game veteran’. His work includes games like City of Heroes, City of Villains and Global Agenda. The team released the free-to-play fighting game Brawlhalla for PC, Mac and Playstation 4 in 2017, which received a positive response from both fans and the press.
“The team at Blue Mammoth Games is expert at developing and running scalable, competitive, multiplayer online games, and they’ll be a great addition to Ubisoft’s network of studios,” said Laurent Detoc (president of Ubisoft NCSA). “With Brawlhalla, we’re getting a hugely popular and highly-profitable title that aligns with our strategy of expanding our audience and providing players with long-lasting, entertaining gaming experiences.”

This is already the second acquisition by Ubisoft this week. On 28 February 2018, the french video game giant acquired the Montpellier-based development studio 1492 Studio.
