It is well known that both Bala and Bharathiraaja had harsh arguments over directing Kuttra Parambarai. The latest update is that two writers, who had apparently written the core screenplay and story of Kuttra Paramabarai for Bala and Bharathiraja have reacted to this controversy.

Bala’s version of Kuttra Paramabarai is based on Vela Ramamoorthi’s work while Bharathiraja’s version is based on writer Rathnakumar’s story.

Vela Ramamoorthi says that Kuttra Paramabarai is his story and Bala will be soon start shooting for the film.

Rathnakumar said : “ I had registered the story of Kuttra Paramabarai in 1997 and subsequently asked Bharathiraaja to direct the film. In fact, music composer Ilayaraaja had composed one song for us and we even approached, both Sivaji Ganesan and Sarath Kumar to play lead roles in the film. As Sivaji Ganesan got hospitalized, the shoot was stopped”.

Rathnakumar had worked as a story and dialogue writer in Bharathiraja’s films like Kizhakku Seemayile, Karuthamma and Kadal Pookal.

Rathnakumar has also said that Kuttra Paramabarai story belongs to him and he has proof that Bala’s team has stolen his idea. “Bala shouldn't direct Kuttra Paramabarai or else, I would definitely file a case against him”, concluded Rathnakumar.

Kuttra Paramabarai is all about how British categorized a section of people as denotified communities in Tamil Nadu.
